  • Frederik de Wit, the noted Dutch cartographer, edited, corrected, and engraved this handsome map. It depicts all of Asia from the Arabian Peninsula and Turkey to Northeast and Southeast Asia. In the lower left corner, a caravan at rest (complete with camel), invited the 17th century "armchair traveler" on exciting journeys.
